Are you interested in flying out of the Tijuana International Airport?
Are you a little concerned about getting lost or that you will not understand the road signs?

Have you found a great price on a Mexican airline you want to take advantage of?
The goal of the video below is to help you overcome any concerns you might have about driving to the Tijuana International Airport from the Southern California area to take advantage of their competitive prices and flight schedules. The video below is of an actual trip from San Diego County through the San Ysidro border crossing to the Tijuana International Airport. We have included many important travel tips
and reminders that should help you plan your trip. The video was posted June 2009. The Mexican government upgraded the border crossing and added lanes since then.

So, sit back, relax and just press the play button. The video is about 18 minutes. The first portion contains mostly reminders and travel tips with pictures. The actual taping of the drive starts about 2 minutes in. The file is large so you might give it a minute or so before clicking the play button. Make sure your speakers are on.

Tijuana has done a good job in modernizing the city over the past 5 years. You will find familiar names like Costco, Smart & Final, Home Depot, Office Depot, Mc Donalds, Carl's Jr. and Burger King. A great place to have a buffet dinner is Sanborn's. Oxxo is a convenience store chain similar to our 7-11. AM PM also has many locations. Pemex is the national filling station in case you need gas.

Thank all of you that have visited my website. I never dreamed so many people would visit. 100% of the people I have heard from enjoyed there trip to the airport. Here is another tip. Please CLICK HERE if you or someone else you know would like to find out more information about how I, and my brother, got our CARS PAINTED in Tijuana for a very, very good price. The shop used the same procedures and high quality paint you would expect in the USA. I will send you the name, phone number, map, directions, and other travel and shopping tips. This is a small "hole in the wall" shop but the quality, guarantee and price is very good. I get a small tip from the owner for sending him business but I would also give the tip out for nothing. Thanks again for visiting my website. - Bill L.

Important Tips

  • Make sure everyone traveling in the car has a passport
  • Make sure you declare any non personal items or gifts over a value of $50 at the border.
  • Check-In Times are 2 hours prior to take off for Domestic flights and 3 hours prior for International
  • Don't Speed. Watch out for school zones.
The picture above is looking north on the famous Revolution Avenue from 8th Street. The arch was dedicated in the year 2000 to welcome in the new mellennium and visitors to the city. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the airport from the arch area. This is the old part of the city. Much of Tijuana has been moderized and looks very similar to shopping areas in American cities.
Above is a picture of the enclosed parking structure. It is well secured and open 24 hours per day. Parking Rates are 25 pesos per hour with a maximum rate of 175 pesos per day for the enclosed area and a maximum of 137 pesos per day for the adjacent outside area.
